10 Startups That’ll Change The Robots That Vacuum And Mop Industry For The Better
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It’s one of the simplest robots to set up that we’ve tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual will have you up and running in no time. It comes with the complete dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you’d like to do for each room.
You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro’s front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only drawback is that it tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will show you exactly what the robot done, where it is traveling, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs the maintenance tasks that must be completed, such as emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It’s also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of eufy’s own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is simple to use and intuitive, allowing you to see every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock’s flagship robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This increases the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by having a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they’re an object that is a wall or a different surface. It can then change its course automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.
It’s the most expensive model I’ve tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank is self-emptying, and the bin is auto-filling.
The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn’t removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if it’s required) but it’s a challenge to take off the mount itself to wash it manually. I’ve observed that any carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mount, which can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app allows you to manage and configure these features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery’s lifespan. You’ll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It’s a shame considering the performance otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mowing capabilities. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first one to provide 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum removes the dry mess, which includes pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. In addition the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional squeaks of sound when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.
The X40 has a side brush that can be lifted and extended. This allows it to reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean curved furniture like chairs and table legs. It can also get under furniture with low profile, making it an excellent option for apartments with small spaces or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it detects wet spots. This is a great feature that allows the X40 to prevent damage to floors from excessive back-and forth movements.
In contrast to other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 is capable of performing mopping and vacuuming at the same time or separately. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, and robotvacuummops vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is easy to use and intuitive, and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, switch modes, look at maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it’s finished.
The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it overflows, thus reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that’s among the most expensive models available, but it packs in a lot of additional features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature of its mops, uses two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles, and clean up spills and soiled spots.
Its mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is beneficial because it stops mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven’t seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.
There are plenty of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and change preferences. These can be set via the app, or via direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options to customize the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots do not have – such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles instead of relying on an individual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we’ve seen in the market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks classy and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list however it’s not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. They can also extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
