Role Overview:
As a Support Worker in our children’s residential EBD home, you will play a vital role in the daily lives of our residents. You will provide emotional and practical support, help maintain a safe and secure environment, and work closely with a team of professionals to deliver high-quality care. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with EBD and be flexible to work various shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to children and young people with EBD.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with residents to promote their emotional and social development.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of individualized care plans.
- Support residents in their daily routines, including personal care, education, and recreational activities.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring the health and safety of all residents.
- Handle challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support.
- Keep accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, and educators, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children and young people with EBD is preferred.
- Relevant qualifications in social care, childcare, or a related field are desirable.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of children with EBD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly across all shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient nature.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
